This loudspeaker began with the desire to bottle up Barbara's midrange magic in a smaller footprint — light enough to suspend from a ceiling without an engineering project. The problem we kept running into in commercial rooms was a familiar compromise: the speakers clear enough to make a voice intelligible rarely had the output to fill the space, and the ones loud enough to fill it turned to mush the moment a room got busy. We sought a design that refused that tradeoff — to hold onto real midrange clarity at the volumes commercial work actually demands, not just at polite listening levels.

Bean is that design: Barbara's midrange horn, nearly unchanged, in a cabinet built for commercial rooms. Carrying the horn over whole is what lets it keep the clarity — voices and instruments stay separated and present even as the level climbs, because the range where they live gets its own dedicated, high-efficiency treatment rather than fighting for room on a single cone. And like those classics, it's honest about its low end — in commercial installs, Bean expects a subwoofer below it. But its 10” coaxial with a bit of EQ is nothing to sneeze at.
