Who we are

What we do

Automatic Audio was founded in 2022, in a garage, building speakers on our knees.

Before that came years of collecting and restoring vintage loudspeakers — the great designs of the past, taken apart, measured, understood. Each one was brilliant at something. And each one compromised somewhere else. Punchy lows with a recessed midrange. A compact cabinet with sparkling treble and no low-end presence. Every classic checked some boxes and quietly gave up on others. This process spawned Barbara, a unique design to check them all: fatigue-free highs, a holographic midrange, low end that's both articulate and impactful. The only compromise Barbara makes is her size.

Every model since — Beba, Ferlucci, Frida, Bean, Clover — reflects what we learned building the one before, each created to tick a new box: a request from a business, an architect, a room that needed something that didn't exist yet. That's how our commercial installation work and our speaker line grew up together. Venues are demanding clients; designing for them makes every speaker better.

Today we build from our Montreal workshop, with a small but well-rounded team that doesn't accept compromise in their work — people who see a project through from first concept to installation to the support that comes after, and who won't call it done until it's better than what the client imagined. And what began as work for night clubs, restaurants, and architects is now finding its way into homes. Same designs, same obsession, pointed at your living space.
